Can anyone recommend a photo editing app (preferably free)?

I'd like to be able to take the background (i.e. my kitchen) out of a photo & replace it with a plain background. Does such an app exist?

(I might have seen an advert for one, thinking about it!).

i’ve used a website called remove.bg which seems to work okay. you can remove the background completely or add a plain coloured background instead.

For just tidying up one photo the website mentioned above or there are various single function apps

Gimp is a fully featured photo editor for free

I second gimp, it's great! Almost all the functionality of Photoshop but free.
