This YouTube vid is strangely fascinating!

It’s ten minutes long (including ads that you can mostly skip) and features 10 historical portraits brought to life by AI technology.

I had to turn the awful music off though!

I find myself fancying Stalin.

This is such a fantastic video!

I loved this, thanks OP! Loved the modernisation of Anne Boleyn, I always wondered what Henry saw in her from that portrait but with her hair down like that she looked lovely!

Gatekeeper · 28/02/2021 19:36

I enjoyed that...quite like the look of the blond scientist and explorer

HighlandCowbag · 28/02/2021 19:45

Loved that OP thank you (Stalin was fit tho wasn't he?)

Yep - no one in those times looked vaguely attractive (by our eyes)!

Was the first one one of the Russian grand-duchesses?

Snooks1971 · 28/02/2021 21:21

@BalloonSlayer I really don’t know and sadly not knowledgeable enough. Would like to know though....

Thank you for that OP, it was really interesting! Those wives of Henry VIII were really pretty!

BalloonSlayer · 01/03/2021 07:19

I think it is, from a google I think it's Olga.

I only asked as I watched it without the sound on and I wondered if there was a voiceover that mentioned it.

I thought the Romanian princess had quite a look of Princess Margaret. Which is not unexpected given that they had shared great-grandparents.

To me the explorer Fridtjof Nansen is looking a bit Captain Flashheart .

Black and white imagery really skews how we see people! Somehow they seem less real. love the photos coloured by Marina Amal (I think that's her name?), they give a connection and turn them in to people you can imagine talking to. I find the AI a bit weird though!

Renlay · 01/03/2021 09:16

That's really interesting, thank you.

Ann of Cleeves reminds me of Dd!

Wow, this is really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

For those wondering who each person is, it's in the video description :-)
