Will IKEA take my items upstairs?

I have a large item delivery coming on Friday (three double Pax wardrobes). I'm sure when I ordered, the website said to a room of my choice. Now it says, Covid rules allowing.

Anyone had a delivery recently (England), and did they bring the items in and upstairs?

If IKEA would respond to queries, I wouldn't need to keep asking you lovely lot. Sorry and thanks!

My ikea deliveries have always just been delivered to my door. John Lewis are the only ones that have come inside the house to deliver but even they wouldn't on my last delivery due to Covid.

Starlightstarbright1 · 28/02/2021 14:32

They did to mine but this was prior to COVID

Shesaysso · 28/02/2021 14:38

They didn’t with mine - said they’re no longer allowed in buildings.

I had a large item delivery (pre-covid) and they would only deliver to the front door of the block of flats.

reluctantbrit · 28/02/2021 15:02

Yes they did in January, even upstairs to the loft extension.

But I don’t know if that was something DH ordered extra. If so, it was worth the money to get them to do it.

icelollycraving · 28/02/2021 15:03

Mine have been to the door only since Covid.

I have had quite a few large deliveries from them since December and they have always delivered to the chosen room, including upstairs. I live in SE England. The website says that they will deliver to the room of your choice, following the social distancing rules.

ShrewYou · 28/02/2021 15:06

Yes they will. We had to tell them where the room was (up two flights of stairs) and keep out of the way,

Initially they were only doing 'one man deliveries' so wouldn't bring it to the room.

Heavily pregnant with twins and they dumped the Cots in the porch which meant i couldn't open my front door 🤷‍♀️- they could see I was pregnant but didn't offer any assistance

Did you ask them for any assistance?

They left all ours in shared alleyway, 32 boxes last month

WonkyCactus · 28/02/2021 15:52

I had some furniture delivered last summer. I live in a second floor flat. They would only bring the boxes inside the main door on the ground floor. I couldn't carry the boxes so I had to open them up and bring all the bits upstairs separately. That was fun on a hot day!

Crookairroad · 28/02/2021 16:07

I’ve had 2 deliveries. Once in August last year and the other at the end of February. They did not come inside so all items were left outside. Thankfully we have a covered area.

They weren’t allowed to come inside.

Stuckforlong · 28/02/2021 16:20

Last delivery November 2020 they delivered up to room of choice , x2 men one was more keen to assist than the other

TartanCurtains · 28/02/2021 17:57

Sounds like it's pot luck then!

Thanks everyone. Fingers crossed.

Update: they brought the boxes in and upstairs. There was a small discussion about it when I asked if they could, but I gave them my best smile and won them over 😁
