Actor Johnny Briggs, he was 85. Feel surprisingly sad about this. He always reminded me of my dad. RIP Johnny Sad

How terribly sad, RIP Johnny

My mum used to fancy him when I was a kid. She had a signed photo of him by her bed that she'd kiss at night, it used to piss my dad off Grin

She died many years ago, my dad said she'll be up in heaven chasing the poor bloke down.

Sad too, he was a true Corrie great.

LizBennet · 28/02/2021 12:38

Aww RIP. I remember feeling scandalised when I was about 7 after hearing Ken Barlow call him a bastard and punching him in the Rovers, my Grandma was appalled at the foul language.

grassisjeweled · 28/02/2021 12:41

Oh crikey, RIP.

The good old days! He was such a good actor. Jim Mcdonald and Jack Duckworth in the background.

Sad news. My Mam was a big Corrie fan back in the day so he (well, Mike Baldwin) would have been a very familiar face on our TV screens.

Quirrelsotherface · 28/02/2021 14:21

These were the absolute golden days of Corrie, when the writing and character development was top class and the actors had bags if charisma and talent. It's all sensationalist crap these days combined with a real lack of star quality. Sad to see another one go Sad

haggisandmarsbar · 28/02/2021 14:37

Such a shame he had so much trouble with his children and grandchild, he can't have been very happy later in his life Sad

Spot on!

The Deidre-Mike-Ken triangle was brilliantly done and there were no soap spoilers back then so we didn't know, until broadcast, who Deidre would choose.

RIP Johnny

I hope his family left behind can cherish their memories of him. RIP.
