Hi all, I was wondering if any of you have your girls at either of the above schools. What are your thoughts regarding them (quality of teaching, life/ study balance, child's progress, support and pastoral care) and how are your girls finding them (academically, as well as socially)? Tia xx

Do you mean STAGS (St Albans Girls School) or St Albans High School for Girls?

OksiX · 27/02/2021 20:33

Sorry, I meant STAHS - St Albans High School for Girls.

My friend’s daughters went to STAHS for primary and she was very happy with it - she’s a teacher herself so knew what she wanted. They then went to STAGS for secondary and are thriving, as is another friend’s daughter.

Hi, possibly not much help but I have a son in preschool at Sherrardswood and I think it's a lovely school!

From memory, Sherrardswood is a much smaller school so bear in mind that will create a very different atmosphere. This put us off applying.

Thank you, good to know.

Yes, Sherrardswood is much smaller and very small class sizes throughout all year groups, from what I’m told. A friend was considering it as an option for their child who has some additional needs and they wanted a very small, supportive and secure environment. STAHS is much more academic and full on (again, just on what I know from friends with daughters there). I’d say they’re pretty different schools so likely to be the case that one will suit your daughter better than the other.
