Teams advert just made me flinch...

We use Microsoft Teams for work. There's just been an advert on the telly for it, and the very distinctive 'started a video meeting' noise just made me physically flinch and whip my head round to the (closed) laptop.

Trauma!

Me too. It's the second most traumatic noise to me, after the sound of a reversing supermarket van (shielding, couldn't shop in person, constant dread of not getting a slot in the early days)

Ha ha, yes. And the 'badip' noise it makes when you get a mention in chat.

I hate that Teams noise

I hate when telly/radio use an alarm cock noise in their advert. Goes right through me!

I used to have a job where I was issued with a pager that beeped when I was being paged.

My microwave made a similar beep when it finished cooking.

The times I automatically checked my pocket for the pager at home when my baked potato was ready...

You can turn all those noises off in Teams. Makes everything less invasive. Go play in settings.

I own and manage a bistro operating as a takeaway at the moment. I can't go near another takeaway without hearing an Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat terminal beep and it gets me every time! I almost jump to action to accept the order for them!

We both instinctively look at it laptops when that advert comes on (the monopoly one?). Reminds me of the old days of landlines where I would answer my home phone with “good morning, thank you for calling XX business you’re through to Unsure” only to have friends in hoots.
