Hit and run, other driver now telling lies

As it says really. We were involved in a hit and run last year. At a roundabout and DH was slowly pulling forward, doing about 10mph. All of a sudden a woman pulled across 3 lanes, hit us on the off side, bounced off, did a 180 degree spin which nearly hit several other cars before doing a 3 point turn and driving off 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, she’s now trying to say that we drove into her!! We have an independent witness who corroborated our side of events but does anyone have any experience of anything similar? Do people ever get away with these sorts of porkies even though we are 100% in the right. Sadly no CCTV on that particular roundabout.

I got a bit worried then re the dashcam but DH has been looking into them today and we’re going to get them. He’s never been in an accident in 22 years of driving so it’ll be a good investment, even if just for peace of mind.

Happened to my husband, insurers decided to do it as a knock for knock as not worth the fight. My husband told them to let the other insurers know that he had an independent witness, man who my husband managed to avoid hitting when he was hit, and that he would be making a complaint to the police of perjury.

Funnily enough the other driver admitted liability and it all got sorted.
