Holiday on the Gower with kids?

Ex lives in Cardiff and I used to live nearby but never really went to the Gower. I am thinking of booking to take the kids (age 6,8 and 11) to the Gower for a weeks break, maybe a couple of nights in the Forest of Dean on the way (to go to puzzlewood), that way we can do the holiday then hand kids to dad in Cardiff for a week. Maybe August so I can go to Beautiful Days festival after if it’s on.

Just wondering what there is to do as well as beaches in that area and where best to stay, girls like the beach but not all the time, Is The Mumbles the best option? Any Swansea / Gower experts on here?

We’ve stayed in the mumbles quite a bit. There is the pier with the usual seaside attractions and games, there are water sports - my DS did paddle boarding last time we went. We’ve done a boat trip and saw dolphins and sea lions.

There is the pool in Swansea for days which aren’t sunny. It has a wave machine, surfboarding, toddler play area.

There is a park and a lido in the mumbles, we take our bikes and cycle on the path to Swansea. It’s nice and flat and you can go quite a few miles.

Lots of ice cream to enjoy and numerous lovely restaurants.

Plus the coastal path for nice walks. It’s a great place to take kids.
