Doc Martens v Solovair

I am looking to buy new boots. I've always bought DMs and currently have 8 or 9 pairs that I wear regularly.

I have read really good things about Solovair boots.

Have any of you got Solovair after docs who could let me know how you've found them 🙂

My husband has loads of DMs and bought a pair of Solovair shoes for work. He finds them desperately uncomfortable because they're much narrower. He also found them to size much smaller than DMs.

Neither of these things might be an issue for you though of course! In terms of quality, they seem to be as hard wearing and well made as DMs though.

That’s interesting, which solo airs did he have? They describe the shape of each ‘last’ on the website.

I've read and can see that the welt is different on the Solovair and the leather is thicker so more wearing in is required. Just wondering if the extra price and time to break in is worth it.

@BlueDaysTillChristmas Just the Gibson shoe. It's almond shaped on the toe but he doesn't have particularly wide feet so he didn't expect them to feel so narrow.
