Recommend a romantic getaway hotel

I want to book a weekend away for when we can travel my dp is struggling a bit and he needs a pick me up.

Requirements sw, Wales or west mids to keep traveling down, good restaurant onsite plus ideally cozy bar, not an identikit generic hotel, quirky is good and finally extra marks for antique four poster beds.

Doesn't need to have a pool but would be nice, countryside walks a must,

I know of a few places that fit the bill but they are ones I have been to with exh, not appropriate. Booking websites have so many, hard to find what I want, if someone on here owns a hotel even better- prefer my money to go to a family than an anonymous corporation! Budget £400 including meals for 2 nights

Don't know whether it's SW enough for you but we stayed at the Bathen House Hotel in Bath in Sept and it was lovely. We have a suite for less than a standard room in most places in town. staff were great, covid rules followed, bed very comfy and free parking.

However, like most hotels you can't book til the end of may now and reckon it's a little more expensive and they've all put their prices up

I had a really nice stay at Tortworth Court - nearish Bristol on the edge of the Cotswolds. It wasn't crazy expensive either, I'd love to go again.

The Pig at Combe in Devon is my favourite.
And... it’s not my kind of place, but ticks most of your boxes -Thornbury Castle in the Cotswolds.

The Queens Arms at Corton Denham in Dorset - pub with rooms but phenomenal

Thanks, I'm checking them out! BTW Yes prices are up considerably on last summer - the hotel we booked for November (obviously cancelled) in London is £100 more a night!

Lots of great pubs with rooms in Tetbury, which is also a great place for a potter. They won’t have a pool, but often quirky and with antique furnishings. Westonbirt Arboretum is close by, which is really lovely.

I stayed there a few years ago and really enjoyed it - it was very good for the price.
