I got a partial denture on Tuesday three of the top front teeth on my right side and two back teeth either side and I feel miserable. I had temp crowns on for two years.. the time the dentist was going to put them on bam a big infection and had no other choice but extractions. I’ve been living of soup my mouth feels bruised and I’m loosing hope. Will my eating ever be back to normal ? Will I be able to enjoy a burger ever again..I’m 28 so I’m really struggling coming to terms with this is how it will be forever 😭. Does this get better ?

Hi Op,

yes, it will get better. But it will take a while for your mouth to adapt.

After an accident a few years I lost three of my front teeth. I have a partial denture now.

Now I can eat what I want, I enjoy all foods.I've never not had something due to my plate.

Just make sure you keep it clean.

In six months time when your teeth and gums have settled speak to your dentist about the cost of a cobalt chrome plate.

I had a front incisor take out 2 years ago after being in pain for a year with it. Once the feeling of relief of the pain had passed I was thoroughly miserable with this horrible denture. I'd lost many back teeth when DD was born so the plate felt bulky, I hated not feeling the roof of my mouth and I hated how I assumed it now made me speak (it didn't change anything, but I was paranoid)

I went back to the dentist who told me to wait for settling and come back. When I did she constructed this amazing cobalt chrome plate that doesn't cover much of the roof of my mouth, holds itself in place and I dont know its there half of the time. I changed my life.

It wasn't cheap at £600 but it was absolutely worth every penny.

Thank you for your responses you have helped me out massively. My other half was making dinner tonight whilst I was sitting feeling sorry for myself. He asked if I wanted to try some it was a soft meat grill fried eggs some chips and beans It looked delicious especially since I’ve lived off soup since Tuesday lol and I’m so happy it took a while but I managed to eat most of it!! I’m feeling soo much better now x
