So I have something for sale priced at £400.
Someone said they could pay £350 which I reluctantly accepted. But now someone else has said they’ll pay £400. (I didn’t want to mark as sold til it had be taken).

It’s bad form to pull out of the 350 offer isn’t it? Like gazumping on a property.

It’s bad form but FB Marketplace is the Wild West of online selling so...

AaronPurr · 26/02/2021 08:54

Have you already agreed with the original buyer a time and date to collect?

CimCardashian · 26/02/2021 08:56

@AaronPurr roughly he has suggested Saturday morning.

@skeggycaggy people ALWAYS try and barter on it don’t they?
I sold a fruit bowl once listed at a fiver. Someone asked if I’d accept £4!🤣

Just say to the 400 buyer it's going Saturday morning so if they want it to come today to get it. Then if they get it tell the Saturday buyer it's gone and you weren't doing holds...
They'll be fine/get over it

AaronPurr · 26/02/2021 08:58

So tomorrow morning? If so yes I think it would be bad form to pull out now. There's a chance he might not collect in which case you could message the other buyer and see if they want to collect.

JackieBeaver · 26/02/2021 08:59

The 350 buyer might be messing you around anyway... don't hold it for them. Also if they saw it cheaper somewhere else they'd not give it a second thought for the sake of your feelings

CimCardashian · 26/02/2021 09:00

True,they may pull out.

Oh wow,the second buyer has offered to pick it up today!

Let second buyer have it.
Market place has so many no shows.

LagneyandCasey · 26/02/2021 09:37

It's a bit shitty to the £350 guy, but half the time buyers don't turn up or mess you around anyway so it's daft to not selling to £400 guy.

If £400 guy turns up today tell £350 guy 'Sorry, the item is now unavailable'.

CimCardashian · 26/02/2021 09:39

I’ve accepted the £400 person. The £350 guy was a bit pissed off obviosuly but I said if he’d offered the full price I would have let him have it.

I hate marketplace!

I hope he turns up, op. I wouldn't have let down the £350 guy until I had £400 in my hand Wink

🤞
