16th Birthday Quotes/Engraving

I have been struggling with what to buy my DD for her 16th this year. For one reason or another it’s been a pretty bad year, and she is currently unwell with a teeny tiny light on the horizon.

DD doesn’t want anything, and barely needs anything. I’ve got her a few small gifts but feel that we need to mark her 16th with something more.

I ended up thinking of a piece of decent jewellery (But she doesn’t really wear any jewellery) or a classic, decent watch (again she doesn’t wear one now, but used to)

I’d like to engrave something to mark the fact that it is her 16th and/or that she is battling (and hopefully winning) against her illness.

I know from old that Mners are BRILLIANT at this sort of thing - so would ask - do you have any ideas, favourite quotes, pearls of wisdom to impart? Something that could be engraved on the back of a watch or the like? I want her to know she is special, even if she doesn’t think so, and for it to be something she could keep even if she doesn’t wear it.

Would have to be a big old watch, but this quote may be appropriate. Or find a print of the quote you like and buy her something else, if there is anything she is into.

Oh I like that quote. Yes, a picture frame or something would be good with that in. Ooh, or a mirror with that around the edge...

‘Nevertheless she persisted’

It’s an inspirational feminist rallying cry and seems really appropriate for your DD and her struggles. Also possibly short enough for a watch!

Christ. Why didn’t I think of that?! I have that on a mug myself! Yes, that is a very good one.

A colleague has suggested something like ‘Time flies; you are forever’ which is quite good.

My favorite birthday greetings sentence (frasi di auguri compleanno) is:
For your birthday I wanted to give you something fascinating and fun, but then I remembered that you already have me in your life. Best wishes!
