If you only get egg white cervical mucous sometimes - does that probably mean ovulation isn't always happening?

Clunky title but not sure how else to put it really. If EWCM only occurs sometimes, is that a good indicator that ovulation isn't always taking place?

When I read about this online it seems to suggest that not every woman does get it so can be perfectly normal. But can't find anything about women who only get it now and again, not like clockwork every month?

I don’t think so but not sure. I never had it at all until I was about 25, presume I didn’t just start ovulating at 25! Although I was on the pill much of that time. I know that’s not really what you meant but just thinking I’m not sure how linked they are? Think it’s just where hormone levels fluctuate each month maybe which could be down to diet, exercise, stress etc.

@katiemumma20 you won't have had fertile CM if you were on hormonal contraception, nor would you have been ovulating.

OP are you checking Internally as well as in your underwear? You may not produce a lot and might find pre seed helpful if you're TTC

I wouldn't think so, I had absolutely no sign of it last time I conceived, I was really shocked because I had just had my implant removed and thought I wouldn't be back to 'normal' for ages and assumed that's why it just wasn't there.

@sabrinathemiddleagewitch I know that which is why I was saying that’s the reason I didn’t have it for most of the time before I was 25! However I had years here and there when I was not on the pill and I still did not have any EWCM until the age of 25 (even when I was not on the pill)

I think egg white is only during ovulation anyway.
