I can’t believe I’m starting this thread, I’ve never been in the ‘need a handhold’ position.

I just am struggling so much because my 7 year old is struggling so much. He’s changed so much in the last year.

I just can’t cope with another two months with him at home. P1 is going back, but tbh she doesn’t really care whether she’s in or not.

I just.... WHY are our guidelines so out of sync with everyone else’s?

I had my meltdown this day last week
Is he not P3 there for going back 8th of March?
I have one the same age so counting off the days but it is still utterly shit
Handhold for you Flowers

Thank you for your handhold! I just don’t really understand the reasoning I think is the problem? I’m in a borough with 9 people in hospital with Covid apparently (I’m sure that’s wrong, but we are and have been very low).

Also it seems we are behind the U.K. in vaccination rates. Both statistically and anecdotally - most of my old peers from my NCT group in london are being called for vaccine with no health issues (40+), I am MV and have heard nothing (although i 100% would live a quiet life for longer and give up my vaccine to a teacher, if I had that option).

I just have no sense of urgency from stormont about getting them back!

Oh dear! have Wine and Cake
I had a meltdown over this last week even though mine is going back on the 8th for 2 weeks (why?) But fwiw I think there's going to be a big push to get them all back on that date as I think we'll be the only area of the UK not to.
Is there something you're specifically struggling with?

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 25/02/2021 16:57

I lost my shit a bit about this when the extension announcement was made and started a thread about it. Really hoped today they would see sense but nope.

DD is P7, so we’re also playing the lottery of post primary admissions. Which is totally shit if your kid doesn’t have a sibling at a school already.

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 25/02/2021 16:59

@SoLongFurlough it’s just been announced that they’re sticking to their guns and they’re not all going back on the 8th.

SoLongFurlough · 25/02/2021 17:00

I just don’t really understand the reasoning
This should really be our motto! If you're MV can you not book your own vaccine?

SoLongFurlough · 25/02/2021 17:03

PlanetDuplo I'm sticking to my guns here if the British government are doing it the DUP will be doing it!
I fully expect a u turn next week

Same here!

My DH works from london normally. I gave up my job in london to move back here and this year was supposed to be the new last year, ie MY YEAR, the time I had two kids in nursery/school and I finally trailed the dregs of part time/crap holdover jobs to resuscitate career. But obviously not happening as I need to hustle and sort of ‘create’ my work life and it’s impossible to in these circs. I feel like a case study for ‘women take burden of caring responsibilities’.

My DS is completely miserable, very very angry, refusing to do any homework (ie I have to sit beside him to the exclusion of all else and after about an hour of screaming/shouting/crying mostly but not entirely from him, he writes one word on the page which turns out to be wrong or misspelled.) He is young for his year but was top of his class (or circling casually among top five in his class). The unhappiness and misery he has is huge. Sobbing himself to sleep because he feels he is a failure. Personally I would abandon all schooling and just let him read voraciously, play outside etc, but he KNOWS he’s behind and he’s now distraught at that!

WHAT IS THE REASONING????

WeAreFromThePlanetDuplo · 03/03/2021 09:34

Well, the roadmap was enlightening, wasn't it? Total waste of time. Pathways, steps... it tells us nothing.

How are everyone's DCs getting on?
