Does a PIP application really need to be so difficult?

And long winded?

I don't mean the appraisal part, we haven't got there yet, but just getting to the application stage seems unnecessarily difficult. I rang about 3 weeks ago and was told the form would be with me within 3 weeks.

Why 3 weeks just to get the form?

The form has arrived, slightly earlier than promised, but not much. It's a twenty odd page booklet, but this is only an application to be allowed to apply. It doesn't actually ask anything about DH's mobility.

We now have to send this off and wait for the actual application form.

If course, I understand that the process needs to be robust, but does it need to take so long?

Thankfully, we're not desperate for the money, but it will make a difference the the care DH can have. I really feel for people who do need this payment.

Honestly I think it’s shocking how difficult they make it . I applied last January for ds like you say took a few weeks then we got 1 week to complete which I did . A day later I just posted got a letter to say not arrived and will give me another 2 weeks to complete . So this was about February time , I remember I got a call towards the end of March just before lockdown and I remember the date because it was my wedding anniversary and it was actually a lovely lady just asking a few questions. I think that was the final part as a couple of weeks later I got a letter with the details what was agreed.
My advice op get copies of the form and any documents you send also get it recorded delivery when you send .
I just didn’t trust them as the first person I spoke to at dwp to get the form was awful I actually put in a complaint because he was so rude .

Ditto for I don't think they would refuse it based on him having months not years left. It will save you so much hassle and get it processed significantly quicker x
