Greek myths for age 7

DD is very into Greek mythology at the moment. She and DH have played Immortals: Fenyx Rising and she has read the Usborne Greek Myths. Please can anyone recommend any other good books? She is a bit young for Percy Jackson but something of that ilk would be ideal.

(She is 7, Year 3, and a good reader but not as voracious as I was at her age and still building her reading stamina for longer novels)

Roger Lancelyn Green’s Tales of the Greek Heroes in Puffin Classics is great. You could start by reading them to her.

And I think there are some Percy Jackson short stories which are worth a go.

Sorry, I am not very good at posting links, but this book is very popular with mine (Y4 and Y2)

Who Let The Gods Out series by Maz Evans- funny novels that play with the Greek gods and myths.

Also my own (sadly unpublished) novel about a modern girl who enters the Ancient Greek world to help the original Penelope Grin

I was obsessed with Greek mythology as a child and my favourite book was:

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1845113217/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_7E59F1WNQZNRPZH3TNFS?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I read and re-read it and did better than a recent Mastermind contestant who did it as a specialist subject.
My old copy is literally falling apart.

Should have said that I'd read a lot of mythology before including Enid Blyton's take on it.

Who Let the Gods Out looks PERFECT. Thank you so much, and for all of the other suggestions. Please keep them coming!

I got Atticus the Storyteller after asking here. DS loves it.

Vegiereggie · 25/02/2021 13:57

There are Percy Jackson comic books too.

"Icarus was ridiculous" is hilarious. An unconventional retelling of a few greek myths but lots of fun.
It's probably the right level for her to read independently as well.

I read Enid Blyton's 'Tales from Long Ago' as an 8yr old. I loved the stories. There are some illustrations too, but they're all black and white. You can get used copies online for a couple of quid.

Beasts of Olympus series by Lucy Coats are great!

My 7 year old the Hopeless Heroes series - he’s obsessed with Greek mythology
