Are music lessons worth it if your DC aren't keen to begin with?

DS has been offered piano lessons at school. He's 7. I'm really grateful for the offer because we couldn't afford to pay for them on our own and obviously, covid. He said he didn't want to but I'm not really sure why. He can sometimes be a bit wary of new things.

I'd love him to have a go but obviously spaces are limited and another child could be desperate to go. The teacher said to think it over and let her know.

Could he have a couple of taster sessions? I do think that music lesson Require quite a lot of buy in from the child because they are often a waste of time and money if the child isn’t going to practice. And nagging them every week to practice when they really aren’t bothered is painful!
