Any hints or tips?
It's for the room a bed bound invalid will be living and sleeping in. A nice view but the sun shines on the telly, so ideally, he'll be able to operate the curtains from the bed. There will be periods of up to 4 hours per day when he's home alone.
I've seen switchbot which looks easy to fit, but does it work? Also I think you need 2 units to operate a pair of curtains?
Are there any other options that don't involve taking down the existing curtain rails and putting up a new automated system?
