What would you recommend as the best campsite near a beach? Dc will be 8 & 5.

We have stayed here a couple of times.

Eurocamp and Canvas have tents and mobiles there but we booked direct with the site because the site company have mobiles literally right on the edge of the beach. Whereas Eurocamp is a bit further back and Canvas is in a separate section altogether.

I thought it was a nice size. Not too big. Nice sized pool. There's entertainment but very little in English - mainly Dutch and French. Im not big into evening entertainment anyway so didn't bother me. And it's nice not having everything geared towards English speakers. Although possibly a consideration if you want the kids to go to kids club - the site run clubs aren't in English I don't think. Whereas Eurocamp would be.

Pomport Beach has a lake with a nice sandy beach, kayaks, canoes and pedalos. It also has bike rental, a swimming pool with slides and another covered pool. It’s not a massive, busy campsite and there’s no evening entertainment which we liked as it was peaceful.
Another quiet, unspoilt campsite is Lac de Carcans. It has direct beach access and it’s very pretty.

Brilliant thank you. We're not fussed for entertainment at night. Will check these out

Look at the west coast west of Bordeaux as another option. Beaches are often quite large and shallow. Near Arcachon or Hourtin for example.

Any specific sites you've been to? I've just finished reading 'The tent, the bucket and me' and whilst hilarious, has made me wary!
