Period cycles

Hi, I wonder if someone more knowledgeable can explain this to me.

My period cycle has always been around 31 days. Around day 17 is when I ovulate. (I haven't tested this but it is based on my research plus knowledge of my moods). Around days 19-22 I feel a bit tired and days 23-31 my energy picks up.

Last month my cycle was 38 days long.

  1. Does this mean that I ovulated later in the month? Confused
  1. This month am I ovulating 17 days after the actual date of my last period? Or 17 days after the (earlier) expected date of my last period?

The reasons my cycle got longer were a. I had the Covid vaccine and b. I am on a tablet that can affect periods- lighter and longer cycle. Since I started it my cycles have been 32 days, 32 days, then 38 days.

I am really kerfuffled by not knowing anymore, as it was like clockwork and I would know what my energy would be like and when, which was important to me in coping.

My guesses would be that yes, you ovulated later, and you’d next ovulate 17 days after your actual period... but I’m not 100%.

Can I ask about the Covid vaccine? I’ve been told by my GP that it doesn’t affect cycles, and only actually getting Covid does. They linked me to an NHS page that said the same - no impact on fertility.

Is that not correct, in your experience? I’d like to be prepared... I think we’ll be out this month as I’m due to ovulate on vaccine day.

Agh just lost my post! I had a really stressful week after the vaccine so I think this was a factor. Also bad diet, not enough veg and fibre earlier in the month. The vaccine was part of what stressed me out as it made me very tired while trying to lug myself through a busy week- it was a cycle of deadlines, lack of sleep, a bereavement- and all I felt all week was that I couldn't cope which made me more stressed iyswim. Allow for days off is my advice!
