Wear Plaid. is correct, really nothing weird about it, when we were teens I used to watch it with a cousin who died from Covid, we used to say we were the only people in the world who had watched it.

I miss him and I was just testing out his theory.

This is where context matters.

"I lost my cousin from covid and I miss him. I was thinking that he has a theory that we were the only two people who knew how to finish the sentence 'dead men don't...' because of something we did a lot when we were kids. Does anyone else know?"

You'd have got a lot more reasoned, empathetic responses.
