Kids left in van

My children are age 4 and 5. And went out with their dad in his van. They have carseats. But he left them in the van alone whilst he popped into tesco. I don't know if it was a smaller tesco or the large one or if he was ever out of sight of the kids. I think this was wrong of him to do ? Or am I being over protective?

It's not the end of the world

I wouldn’t at our big Tesco but I would at the Tesco garage. Huge window and you can see at all times (obviously just paying for petrol, not picking up bits too)

totally wrong

If he could see the van I wouldn’t worry too much- but some
Busy body could easily call the police.

If he was popping in for a minute, I don't think it's the end of the world. If he was doing the weekly shop, it wasn't a great idea.

I actually think just to quickly grab something from a small Tesco is probably preferable than taking two small kids in where they aren't overly welcome at the moment.

I definitely wouldn't do it at a large store or to do a big shop.

What CocoPark said.

What CocoPark said, especially as people give me filthy looks if I take my 6 year old into the shops with me at the moment.

Pancake4life · 23/02/2021 21:40

clearly I'm an odd one out, but to me I couldn't risk it especially after seeing things like this pop up every now and again.

I left mine in the car while I popped into local shops for a few minutes at that age but there was nothing dangerous in the car and they couldn't start it or take the handbreak off.

Wrong. We had a bit if a nightmare at my work with a child of that age 4 ish whod been left unattended in a car while parent was in visiting, they got out and were wandering around the car park, and we didn't initially know who and where parents were. Our security after half an hour called police who were not happy with the parents. This was pre covid so they could have gone in.
