Bloom and Wild flowers

what are others' experiences with Bloom and Wild?

I had some lovely flowers from them last summer so asked for an annual subscription for my birthday.
The last two deliveries have been massively disappointing- both times it included roses that were damaged and/or past their best.

Is this just inevitable during the winter months? Or have I been unlucky? Or do they send better stuff to new customers?

Seriously thinking of cancelling as the idea was to be cheered up once a month and that is not the effect they're having.

Unfortunately the letter box Christmas trees I ordered from B and W came really late. Not impressed.

ShinyHatStand · 23/02/2021 20:25

Thanks all.
My experience with the one off orders earlier in the year are like some of you describe - in bud and perking up after a few days so that they're at their best a week or so in.
But the two recent regular orders have been brown and wilted. Past their prime before they arrived.

They come in bud. They aren't meant to be in water because they're still "sleeping".

You need to take the outer guard petals from the roses.

I get them monthly and have never had a problem at all.

Don't know if anyone wants any off the back of this thread Grin but if you do my referral link gets you £10 off and me a £10 credit!

I use Freddie’s regularly anyway, and think they’re great - but I was lucky enough to receive bunches from both B&W and Freddie’s from friends today. The B&W are not a patch on the Freddie’s - and I think they’re more expensive too. Freddie’s was much fresher, flowers less generic - and the whole experience of it more appealing too.

Have never had a bad bunch from Freddie’s. Have been sent bunches from B&W a few times, and although it’s always nice to be sent flowers, I’d certainly never send anyone B&W!

ShinyHatStand · 23/02/2021 20:31

@DavidsSchitt that's exactly my point. They are supposed to come in bud. But that hasn't been happening recently for me.

Got them sent to me for my birthday they were half dead I complained there customer service were awful!!

Scarby9 · 23/02/2021 20:35

I would say you have been very unlucky.

I am on my 3rd (I think) year of giving monthly B&W letterbox flowers to my mum. One lot artived today so I have just been shown them on Skype.

Without exception they have been excellent and mostly lasted at least a fortnight despite the high temperature in my parents' house.

Yes, they look dead when they arrive but, as the enclosed leaflet says, they are 'only sleeping' and come to life over the next couple of days, getting better over time.

I would definitely recommend them.

ShinyHatStand · 23/02/2021 20:38

Mine are definitely not "only sleeping"

I'll stick with it for one more month.

The ones last summer were so beautiful, I was really looking forward to this monthly treat. Felt so indulgent to have monthly flowers.

My last order hasn't lasted as well as normal - and yes, it's the roses that have gone. Not just a bit brown, but very definitely dead! The carnations are great though, have really bloomed and are still going strong. Maybe they've just had a duff supply of roses recently?

@BookShark I think you're probably right. I also have a rose-carnation mix this month and it's only the roses that are poor.
At least this month none of the stems are broken.

I wonder if they've scaled up over recent months and struggled to maintain quality.
Tbh I'd rather have less expensive/showy types of flowers in better condition.

puppychaos · 23/02/2021 20:46

I had them quite a few times in the summer but I've had a couple of bunches in the last couple of months and they've been terrible.

puppychaos · 23/02/2021 20:46

*sorry, the ones I had in the summer were lovely.

Tippytaps · 23/02/2021 20:47

Freddie’s flowers was an absolute nightmare to cancel!

You have to call and get put through to an “account manager”, who try their hardest to persuade you to stay with them, before they will cancel the subscription.

A year on and they’re still calling me to try to persuade me to rejoin. Every time I ask them to remove my details from the mailing list. I have also sent emails asking them to remove my details and stop calling me.

Based on how they deal with cancellations, I would not return.

Bloom and Wild are a bit so so at the moment, but after months of lovely flowers I’m willing to put it down to the Brexit/covid. Next’s chateaux flowers are beautiful and in similar price ranges.

Clymene · 23/02/2021 20:54

I've always had great experiences with B&W and terrible ones with Freddie's.

I got sent a bouquet as a gift and all the heads were snapped off, then I got a replacement and they weren't much better. The next lot were okay but it was such a faff. I hate the subscription idea too.

sanityisamyth · 23/02/2021 20:59

A friend gave me some for my birthday and there was mouldy foliage in the box and the flowers were definitely past their best by the time they arrived. I've never had flowers fro them before and I certainly wouldn't order from them. Very disappointed.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/02/2021 21:05

I’ve subscribed to Bloom and Wild since they started up and have pretty much always had smashing flowers - on the rare occasion they have looked a bit sad they have sent a replacement, no issue. One year my MIL also bought me a subscription and I had flowers every fortnight which was really lovely. I tried Freddie’s with an introductory offer - I think it was a free box but can’t remember - but per pp found it really hard to get out of. With B&W you can pause the subscription at any point.

This referral code will give £10 off your first order (although this thread isn’t very encouraging!) and me a credit too

I got flowers at Valentine’s Day which died within a week but they were from a different company, which makes me think that the problems widespread. So perhaps it’s something to do with Brexit and things taking longer to get here. In Scotland the flower market is shut as are all non essential businesses so I’ve no idea where florists get their flowers from. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Mouseparty · 23/02/2021 21:16

I have had a couple of quality issues but Customer Services have quickly resolved.
I think as a gift they are underwhelming and disappointing to receive. Mine haven’t been good value.
I wouldn’t recommend them or purchase them myself.

cookinahurry · 23/02/2021 21:25

I had good flowers from Freddie's and no problem cancelling when I said it was due to a change in personal circumstances. Never received follow up calls.

IReallyNeedMoreGin · 23/02/2021 21:29

I had a bunch for my birthday earlier in the month. They arrived very very cold, limp and didn't look too great at all. It does say to allow a day or 2 for them to open up but I want expecting much. They looked very different within 2 hours of being in a vase with flower food....within 24 hours I was very pleased with them and 2 weeks on they are still looking good!

Savoury · 23/02/2021 21:33

They are hit and miss.

Some months - wonderful. Others, pretty awful. Sometimes the stems were broken or the flowers never opened. It was a present so when the subscription ran out, I didn't renew it.

They also didn't fit in my door letter box. They were much larger than average letter boxes!

ThroughTheBarsOfARhyme · 23/02/2021 21:42

I’ve found the customer service to be really good. If you get rubbish ones definitely take a picture and let them know.

NeilArmstrongWalkinOnMeFace · 23/02/2021 22:15

Another vote for Freddie's Flowers! They are always brilliant quality.

Crinkle77 · 23/02/2021 23:36

I got sent some as a gift set summer. I followed all the instructions but they were starting to die when they arrived and never perked up. I complained to the company and have to admit their customer service was excellent and they sent me a replacement bunch out. They were a bit better but still not impressive and they died fairly quickly.
