Cylist help with tyre pressure?

I bought a second hand bike in October. Lady selling said it had a slow puncture in one tyre and had been unused for at least 6 months. She pumped it up and I rode it the 15 minutes back with no problem. IT seems fine afterwards and I used it once or twice a week until xmas. Since then I have got it out maybe 4 times and had to put air in twice. Just been out for a 15 minute ride to the shop and back and it felt a bit flat. Not unrideable but noticeable.

Is it a slow puncture or just the cold weather afecting the tyre pressure? I spoke to a guy in Halfords when I bought it who said it may be lack of use that caused the flat tyre before my purchase rather than a puncture. I find the pressure is low in both tyres not just the one which is what makes me question a puncture.

Lack of use will do it and if it's in both tyres then as you say, it's probably not a puncture.

One thing to consider is the age of the tyres....the rubber begins to crack and degrade with age so it may be worth getting them replaced. Schwalbe make excellent tyres, not cheap but have very good puncture resistance. A local bike shop will do it for you for a reasonable charge of you don't feel confident doing it yourself.

Thank you.

Halfords do a service where they check the bike over like breaks and tyres so might pay for that and see if they say anything about them.

I've got the schwalbe puncture proof tyres. 30 quid a go each but worth it. Agreed if tyres are old they, or the valve, may leak.
Personally I'd avoid Halfords and find your local bike shop. Generally cheaper and friendlier.
