Does anyone think London Pride will go ahead this year? 🌈

Hi,

In all honesty, I had ruled it out again for this year, but if the road map goes to plan, in theory, it could go ahead, right?

Desperate to go! Have only been once and it was honestly, one of the best days I've had! Absolutely euphoric Smile

Things have always fallen on that date ever since, like marriages, birthday parties....pandemics Confused etc, so it would be amazing if it was given the go ahead this year. Assuming it was safe, of course.

I don’t think so, it is a hell of a lot to organise before late June.

Manchester pride is going ahead, its likely the festival will also go ahead as the acts etc are all booked.

I think it’s possible that it could, but if so then it’s likely to change format significantly. I can also imagine a lot of the celebrations moving to later in the year - the partying is likely to happen as soon as it’s allowed to do I don’t see any reason why the commemorative and political events couldn’t be pushed to autumn/ winter.

We went to our local one in 2019 and I loved it. I was driving DH mad by singing Mary Mac medley’s for about a week afterwards 😂😂

Nope. Too soon.

Poor you - they are awful! Grin

@SimonJT, this is what I was thinking unfortunately - too much to organise when there are no guarantees. I haven't been to Manchester Pride. Assuming that's later in the year?

@BigPaperBag, we went to our local and it was awful Confused It was more like a a school craft fair. The only thing Pride about it was they gave you a rainbow sticker as you walked in Confused

We only stayed about 40 minutes I think. We obviously weren't expecting London Pride levels, but honestly, it was embarrassing.

Manchester pride is August bank holiday weekend, they also have a music festival, so you can go for the whole weekend, or just attend certain things. They don’t halt the trams, so every few minutes everything stops to let a tram pass.

MargaritasAndFajitas · 23/02/2021 16:54

@SimonJT, would you say it's on par with London?

I personally prefer Manchester, there is a greater variety of stuff to do. Plus in London we always have a place in the parade, so that takes up a lot of time and means you miss a lot of things.

MargaritasAndFajitas · 23/02/2021 17:44

@SimonJT, hmm will have to look into this. Be great to make a weekend out of it! Smile We'd probably need to really, as Manchester is 3.5 hrs away from us! Can you recommend any hotels?

That's exciting @SimonJT what kind of thing do you walk in the parade for? I'm sure we have waved at you!
