Booking appointment

I am expecting my first baby and have an over the phone booking appointment. My partner wants to be involved with this but I would rather have a private conversation between the midwife. Read in other posts that face to face they ask the partner to leave at certain points to discuss privately. Will the midwife ask to speak privately to me. I don’t want to be on speaker phone talking to the midwife with my partner joining in. I just want a private conversation. If anyone can share their over the phone booking appointment experiences please.

No experience of a phone booking appointment but I'm just wondering if your partner knows what the appointment entails? Does he realise it's mostly just lots of medical history questions? Nothing that interesting about the pregnancy, nothing like a scan where you can see baby, so nothing that warrants it being an appointment for both of you to be involved with

They ask if you are being abused or have been in the past if I remember rightly, which is why they ask the partner to leave the room usually. They ask about family histories or health issues etc so can be handy to have him around but I wouldn't have him on speaker with you.
If this is a problem for him then you need use this opportunity to get your boundaries set out, YOU are about to go through an absolute minefield of change (magical as it is) and you need to be able to have a private phone call with the midwife if that's what you want.
Best of luck and congrats btw Smile
