Ear plugs that aren’t ear plugs?

DH is training for a BIG EVENT later in the year. He trains twice a day, 6 days a week. On days when he has morning work meetings he is getting up early to train. We don’t often share a room, so in theory, this shouldn’t disturb me.

In reality, he uses the bathroom which is next to my bedroom. The floorboard outside the bathroom door creaks so this wakes me. He then goes downstairs to make a coffee in the kitchen which is directly below my room. So this disturbs me further.

There are lots of songbirds in the trees in our garden which I don’t hear when I’m asleep. But once I’ve been woken up by DH I can’t screen them out. I’m an owl and struggle enough with the 9-5, so being woken 45-60 mins before my alarm is due to go off is wearing me out. (Especially when the night time training means he’s making dinner at 10/11pm when I’m trying to get to sleep. Angry)

I’m knackered. Don’t want to be unsupportive but it’s taking over life and without sleep I’m likely to become stabby.

Now, earplugs are probably the answer, but I’m prone to eczema in my inner ears if anything inhibits air flow/shampoo gets in there etc.

So, long story short reader, are there earplugs that aren’t ear plugs that might work in this scenario? Or should I just make DH move out until he is over this silliness?

You could use earplugs that don't go inside the ear canal eg www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/wax-silicone-earplugs-pack.html
