Tell me your embarrassing work video call stories!

I am still cringing after my embarrassing experience last week.

I did not realise my microphone was on and shouted out to my son:
"When you have finished pooing, call mummy and I will come and wipe your bottom"

I could have died! Thankfully my colleagues found it funny.

That could have been so much worse!

My colleague started to blur her screen after realising her clothes airer (complete with underwear) could be seen on video calls.

I haven't had any truly 'oops' moments yet... One that makes me laugh is having to make a call to a very senior ranking person at the company I work for (think president of umbrella company, treated as a VIP and revered by most)... my 15 month old was at home due to being unwell and blew raspberries down the phone as I was speaking... gave us both a good laugh! (I'm not a believer in "suit worshipping" and just get on with my job)!

Oh dear! Your colleague's underwear was in full view. I wonder if someone had a quiet word with her.

It could be worse but I felt so embarrassed at the time though.

I will take extra care to triple check my mic is off.

@Faith50 apparently not, she noticed and took action of her own accord... we're clearly a (too?) polite bunch 🤣🤣🤣

Way back in summer I was working from my parents while I was switching internet providers, the old internet had stopped but the new router hadn’t arrived yet. My lovely dad came in mid concall to show me the first frog of the year he’d found in the garden pond

He did not realise I was on a call and I had to try and explain to him that I couldn’t talk while explaining to my call what I was doing!!

Had video calls all day so was eating lunch while on a call with video off. Hadn't realised my audio was still on and was eating a really crunchy salad 😂 Luckily my colleague PM'd me!

Oh I also forgot... My colleagues interviewed someone for a job, she got up to get something during the call and they saw in the mirror in her room that she had a nice top on by was wearing pyjama bottoms 😂 Clearly had no idea they could see. They didn't say anything to her and she didn't get the job (although not because of that at all) but did have a little giggle afterwards.

You've just reminded me.... the other day I witnessed a colleague taking a personal call while thinking they were on mute during a conference call (about 50 participants so a very public blunder)... I think everyone was collectively cringing while trying to get her attention. No idea whether there were any consequences!
