I have inadvertently bobbed my hair

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/02/2021 21:03

A bob can be lovely, but not on me with a big round face and frizzy wayward hair. It'll grow, I hope. In the olden-days when there were hairdressers I used to have shoulder-length hair and the wayward-ness sort of resembled waves and curls, but at this length it just looks untidy. It is at least a long bob, below the earlobes but above the shoulders, and it grows quickly so by the time we can go out in public again it should be long enough.

I feel your pain.

If I cut my hair above shoulders, my hair/head looks like a mushroom.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/02/2021 21:15

Grin @ mushroom.

My DC never notice when I get my hair cut. I'm grateful for that now. Grin

Same here...got scissor happy...totally uneven at back... what is really sad is that i dont even care..whose gonna see meHmm

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/02/2021 21:46

I have no idea what mine looks like at the back. It's relatively even at the front and that's what matters when you're on Zoom, right?

M0rT · 20/02/2021 21:48

Hairbands and scarves are my Zoom solutions.
I also get the mushroom effect...or the sisters from the Simpsons

Last lockdown my DH clipped my pixie perfectly, this time he used his new clippers, but the guards were different so I now have a GI Jane buzzcut!

Theunamedcat · 20/02/2021 21:55

I'm dreading having to trim ds hair its virtually to his waist badly needs a trim I can do dds but she is curly if I go wonky no one notices his is significantly straight

Shock Although if a pixie cut suits your face hopefully a buzzcut will too. I would look like a potato with a buzzcut, not a nice smooth golden one, a lumpy misshapen one.

I cut mine to shoulder length last week, I followed 'Brad Mondo' and hoped for the best hahaha...
It turned out ok tbf

ForTheLoveOfWine · 20/02/2021 22:01

I tried the mumsnet pony tail cut epic fail ended up with a slight mullet Blush
Think I was the only person grateful lockdown hasn’t ended early as it’s nearly grown out Grin

I'm just watching his YouTube video now. Did you 'live your best life' while doing the hair cut?

Is he actually a young teenager or is he just very conscientious about moisturising?

If my hair is cut above the shoulder it looks like a lamp shade. I make a chunky standing lamp, with very low wattage.

ThreeLadsPointingAtAStar · 20/02/2021 22:12

If I cut mine into a short bob I look like Crystal Tips.

I'm desperate to cut it but am holding back and hoping that hairdressers open soon.

TheVamoosh · 20/02/2021 22:17

I will never cut my hair above shoulder length again. When it's longish, it generally behaves according to the laws of physics. When it's short, it suddenly decides to kick out at the back like a cross between a broom and a duck's tail. I would never have guessed. It's like it suddenly changed texture.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2021 22:36

Ooh I have been growing out colour but my hair got to the length my scalp hurt ( menopausal scalp ) and I was losing hair .
Sat in the bathroom with DD , damp hair cantre parting .

"I'll cut the two sides and you do the rest , keep it as even as you can?"

My left:right sides weren't even. I knew better than to cut a bit more (that way madness lies)
Then DD is "Oh its a bit shorter at the back but it's fine"

Wails

It looks ok (in a dim light) and growing ok (this was November)
I still look like Frank Gallagher from Shameless on a bad day though

underneaththeash · 20/02/2021 22:38

I can’t get a fringe. I look like Garth from away e’s World!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2021 22:42

Garth - you are lucky !
I'd look like Grayson Perry (not in character) if I had a fringe .
I look at his photo and its like a mirror projecting what could Be

loveislouderthanwar · 20/02/2021 22:45

If I cut mine I get Lego hair 😂 very thick, course wavy hair!

It's a cut I'd have loved when I was younger, but I think it's too edgy for 50s me. DH and my best friend both like it, but I wore a hat to drop off my mother's shopping. I can't face her comments yet.

It will grow back, and we are unlikely to be leaving lockdown anytime soon.(I'm not in UK).

Lollypop4 · 20/02/2021 23:25

Ha I think he is mid 20s!!
Oh I was living my best life, especially after when, for a brief moment, I decided I could be an actual hair dresser!! Haha!

wizzler · 21/02/2021 00:17

My Dc have informed me that I look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

yogafairy · 21/02/2021 03:51

I'd had a pixie for years until the first lockdown. As lockdown went on it turned into a mullet. I got up one morning and caught sight of myself in the mirror whilst wearing patterned pyjama shirt.. I looked exactly like Ace Ventura.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/02/2021 09:17

PMSL at Ace Ventura, that has really cheered me up this morning. Grin I do have more than a hint of Lord Farquaad, although his hair was quite well behaved directionally compare to mine.

After deep consideration about my hair I have come to the conclusion that it naturally wants to make corkscrew curls but really huge loose ones. So long hair has curls, shoulder length hair has waves but bobbed hair hair just heads off in random directions.
