I was diagnosed with endo at 22, so 16 years ago, then later adenomyosis. Have had six surgeries, tried every treatment. Now I’m just on very strong pain relief as nothing makes much difference or causes side effects that make like miserable. Considering a hysterectomy but not ready for that yet.
Anyway, last night I was 3 days into my period which is usually when the worst of the horrific pain is starting to ease. Was woken up at 3am by the most awful pain in my right ovary - like a crushing, twisting pain. I was very groggy and took morphine, naproxen and paracetamol and thought if that didn’t work I would need to consider hospital (haven’t needed to go in for pain for years now). Fortunately it did start to ease and I went back to bed.
It’s only today that I realise that was pretty stupid as it could have been ovarian torsion or something. Or it could have actually been my appendix since it was on the right. I probably should have called 111 at least but I wasn’t thinking clearly.
Fortunately it hasn’t recurred today and I’ve taken minimal pain relief in case it was masking something. I’ve never had pain in my ovaries during a period before, and it was a frightening level of pain, but the fact it hasn’t come back today is reassuring at least.
Has anyone experienced this? Wonder if I might have an endometrioma but I’ve never had one before, and unless the pain was a cyst rupturing then surely the pain wouldn’t have stopped.
Obviously if it comes back I will seek medical advice right away, and I will call my GP on Monday, not that they will say or do anything other than assume it’s an endo symptom anyway. Just wondering if anyone has had this really and what it was.
