Does your mum criticise your parenting?

I'm a single mum to a gorgeous 21 month old ds. I've been bubbling with mum who's on her own too.
My ds is a good boy, he has his moments with his behaviour & has tantrums & can be defiant like any other toddler.
I do discipline him for his naughty behaviour & he's put in time outs when needed.
However, whenever are with my mum she's constantly criticizing my parenting. When my ds does have a tantrum or is defiant she keeps on at me to smack him.
I don't smack him, never had, never will. When I tell her this she says I'm making a rod off my own back (her words) & that I was smacked & it didn't do me any harm.
We keep getting in to big arguments over it.
I don't know how to handle it.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated please!

Suggest she either let's you parent your own dc or she can go home. I am nc with my dm due mainly to unwanted advice...

I would be telling your ignorant mother that if she mentions hitting your child one more time she will be seeing far, far less of you. She is being utterly absurd. Don't put up with this.
