I like it. Not sure if he'll be a Prince given his Mom's a Princess but his Dad is a commoner but I like the name. And that Eugenie's photo shows a post pregnancy body, not trussed into something so she looks like she's bounced back

I like it, nice to see Philip in there.
Gus for short, nice.

welshweasel · 20/02/2021 10:40

It’s a great name. ?Gus for short! They both look utterly delighted.

FoldenHoard · 20/02/2021 10:40

Ooh I like it too.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/02/2021 10:45

DH is sad they didn't just go Hawke 😂

OP posts:
Rillington · 20/02/2021 11:10

I could understand if he was born in August but February it's odd.

CovidPostingName · 20/02/2021 11:12

He can only be a prince on personal gift of the queen - great grandchildren do not automatically get titles of any kind. Even the Cambridges had to be specified. I think it's already been discussed and they don't want one for him, they wouldn't have announced the name otherwise.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 20/02/2021 11:12

Month names when not born in the month seem odd to me too

I was hopeful their name announcement may inspire me, but it doeant

FoldenHoard · 20/02/2021 11:13

@Rillington

I could understand if he was born in August but February it's odd.
I don’t think most April/May/June named people were necessarily born in that month...
WonkyCactus · 20/02/2021 11:13

It's dreadful. Poor child.

IveMadeAHugeMistake · 20/02/2021 11:14

I think it's nice. August isn't just a month, it's an adjective as well. And derived from the emperor Augustus.

Bunnybigears · 20/02/2021 11:15

I'm suprised they didn't go for the full Augustus but I quite like it.

TheLaughingGenome · 20/02/2021 11:16

Oggie or Aggie for short?

horridhorrid · 20/02/2021 11:18

I like it. Good on them for choosing something with real character. Pleased they used Phillip too.

MechantGourmet · 20/02/2021 11:18

August has a meaning! It's a word in its own right, there is coincidentally a month with the same name.

MechantGourmet · 20/02/2021 11:19

Like May!!

MechantGourmet · 20/02/2021 11:19

Or March!

WorryingMum2029 · 20/02/2021 11:21

I had to Google August to find out it’s meaning other than the obvious.

It means respected and impressive. I like it!

BillieEyeFish · 20/02/2021 11:22

I love the name August. What a great choice. The boy in Wonder was called Augie as a nickname.

MarieFromStTropez · 20/02/2021 11:23

Oh, I like it! Good for them!

Claricethecat45 · 20/02/2021 11:23

Augustus Philip Hawk - would have been good.
Leaving the 'us' off spoils it.
Guess they must prefer it

DwangelaForever · 20/02/2021 11:24

Do we think Eugenie is a Jennifer Armentrout fan?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/02/2021 11:24

I like August. I prefer Augustus, but only slightly more. Gus as a nn is wonderful.

Lovely normal family photo.

NoSauce · 20/02/2021 11:25

It’s a great name. Love Gus for short.

TheCatThatGotTheCream · 20/02/2021 11:45

Lovely! The whole name together, August Phillip Hawke is a very strong name.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/02/2021 11:57

Bizarre.
