Ouch - I've got a nasty waxing injury

I was having a bit of a go at my "upper lip" - (ok it's a moustache). I was getting a bit desperate when I saw the hairs on a photo and I could wait no longer. I have very sore red raw patches now and to add insult to injury I am not even sure if any hair came off. How long am I going to look like an idiot?

I waxed my top lip with those little strips from Boots when I was about 18. I followed the instructions but I had a bad reaction to it and I ended up with a red, scaly rash in the shape of a moustache. I looked like the Joker for about a month Hmm

A month. Oh my god please no. I will have to pretend my webcam is broken. I was hoping someone would say it'll be better after 24 hours

It should heal quickly. Put some savlon on it.

You’ve lifted up not across with the wax strip. It’s like a graze.

Sudocrem will heal it. Don’t put any other type of moisturiser on it. I’ve done it and it’s bloody painful but if you stick with the Sudocrem for a few days It will make a huge difference.

ouch.
it will heal quickly.
I have to admit that I used dh's shaver until I clogged it I got my own Blush

ShopTillYouDropp · 19/02/2021 21:21

Oh no I done this in last lock down. I went over the same patch a few times. It was red raw with blisters that looked like cold sores and then they went scabby. It took about 3 weeks to complete go. It was so embarrassing. I had to go in work Blush

My worse waxing accident was when I still lived with DPs. DM had just decorated the bathroom. I was waxing my legs with wax strips, realised just as I was about to apply it to my calf that I hadn't dusted with talc as per the instructions so with the wax strip in one hand, foot on loo seat, I tried to twist round to shake talc, overbalanced, foot went down loo, twisting ankle. But that wasn't the worse bit. In trying to recover my balance I had slapped the wax strip firmly on the newly wallpapered wall. I must've stood frozen with my foot down the pan for about 5 minutes fruitlessly wondering if there was any way at all I'd get it off without leaving a mark.

Get hydrocolloid dressing. They healed my face in about 10days after a particularly nasty fall.

againstthefamilygrain · 19/02/2021 22:32

use aloe vera gel and some vaseline. Next time when you’re waxing, try not to go over the same part twice

Thanks all. I'm smothered in sudocrem tonight. @kingdomcapers Grin that's made me feel better. Reminds me of when I once wrecked my in laws kitchen work surface with a hot pan (not while waxing) - even worse when ILs not own DPs I think.
