I've fallen down a massive Hamilton wormhole and am watching anything I can find on the early American political evolution. There's two great doxy-dramas on Now TV one 3 parter on Washington and one 7 episode one in John Adams with loads of really well known actors, Giamatti, Laura Linney, Rufus Sewell as Hamilton. Adams goes to live in the brand new White House. I was trying to work out where Leo's and Josh's desks would be..

I've just read about how the set of the west wing compares to the real White House. It's really interesting, especially the fact that the Roosevelt room from TWW looks nothing like the real Roosevelt room.

I adore Hamilton too and have seen it in the West End. One of the WW podcasts I've listened to was in London and with loads of Hamilton links. Currently planning a dream family holiday (dream being operative word!) to include time in Washington DC.

Ooh awesome. I saw him do a one man show once, Under the Lintel.. Masterful.

I’ve been in bed since 7pm feeling sorry for myself with a temperature after my COVID vaccine yesterday watching The West Wing.

It’s a happy coincidence that my DH is bringing me cups of tea in my West Wing Weekly mug. Which was hideously expensive by the time I paid the exchange in my CC and import taxes but was 100% worth it (although I live in fear of it breaking because you can’t get that a one any more).

West Wing - the end again...
BentBastard · 21/02/2021 22:57

I started watching this recently after being nagged to for years.

Im now midway through the final season. We've slowed down to make it last longer because I'm going to bereft when it finishes.

Wonderful series.

I won't stop to chat for now though as I don't want to risk spoilers for the last few episodes.

SockQueen · 22/02/2021 13:11

@carnations23

I love love love Josh/Donna ,

I watched the whole thing back to back twice in the space of 18 days 🙈🤦‍♀️

And in a weird coincidence I'm naming my baby after a West Wing character, first name was always going to be what it is and with my husband choosing the middle name it's now the same as one as the character 🙈

Both my sons have West Wing names Blush

Not Josiah/Jed though!

LookItsMeAgain · 02/03/2021 16:25

I'm watching this again (I really should have thought about linking up the podcasts with the episodes) and I've gotten to the episode called "Shibboleth" and it was the one where the President gave Charlie the knife. It tugs on my heartstrings every single time.

BentBastard · 13/03/2021 17:07

Doubt anyone's still on here but I just finished. I'm bereft. One of my favourite shows.

My only criticism is that damn Disney music at the end of every episode ruining the vibe.

itsme7 · 13/03/2021 17:15

Re-watching WW has been the sole bright side of the last 3 months! Made me smile to find others who love it as much as I do. And jealous of anyone just starting it!

ElspethFlashman · 13/03/2021 17:30

Well I just learnt from this thread I could stream it for free, so guess what I'm gonna be doing in bed tonight!

I have the box set on DVD but no longer possess a DVD player. Grin

Josh 'n Donna 4EVA, lol. And I watch The Handmaid's Tale and Bradley Whitford has turned into a stone cold Silver Fox and my old 1999 crush has been totally reactivated.

I have a question about an episode called "Commencement" (season 4) - they keep talking about "torrential downpour in the Pacific North West" and talking about it actually raining in that area.
What is the significance of the 'torrential downpour in the Pacific North West"
Also what is the Port of Portland? Is it like Rotterdam would be for Europe?

It's nothing to do with weather. It's a code for a terrorist attack - I found this to explain:

"Leo, Admiral Fitzwallace and President Bartlet enter Bartlet's private study, and tell the President a Syrian cargo ship (flying a Nigerian flag) docked in Portland is missing a container. President Bartlet at first decides to give the FBI (who's searching the ship) an hour before having the Coast Guard close down the port, but when he remembers the "torrential rain in the Pacific Northwest", he decides to close the port down immediately."

LookItsMeAgain · 22/04/2021 08:21

But in the same episode, Will Bailey says in the Oval office that it is actually raining in that location so is a "torrential downpour in the Pacific North West" just code?
They should rethink how they give code and shouldn't link it with the weather when there is rain forecast though...kinda confuses things a bit.

It's always raining in the Pacific Northwest tbh so I'm not sure that's significant.

I started re-watching it over the winter I stopped when I got to the last episode of series 3, because I couldn't bring myself to see that one again. You know why Sad

I found Josh's jokes to Donna about her 'IRA boyfriend' (Jason Isaacs) very off colour. Love TWW otherwise.

BentBastard · 24/04/2021 11:50

I finished it for the first time a couple of months ago. I was bereft at finishing. I keep hoping to find something to fill that West Wing hole but I'm not sure what can match up Sad

KingscoteStaff · 24/04/2021 12:36

The only reason we keep our DVD player is for the WW box set.
