I have been on 40mg a while now and I’m feeling better however I’ve put on A LOT of weight! So I’m coming off them in 10mg doses over a month. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yep, it's when my weight rocketed. I've been off them a year and am still struggling to lose it. My appetite was insatiable when medicated and I just cannot get out of the habit of eating for comfort.

I lost a lot of weight when I started on it but then it stabilised until lockdown when I gained a few pounds. I've been on it a couple of years and I'm not growing exponentially.

I've been on 40mg of it for at least a decade and can't say it's caused a weight gain. Week 3 of my menstrual cycle - now that causes me food craving issues, but not meds.

Weight went up and up and up :( Combine that with underactive thyroid, not good . And diets that worked amazingly in past rarely do now . It hasn't even helped my depression much (doctor switched me from Venlafaxine...their choice) and my anxiety has never been worse...been about 5 yrs on it, really don't want to be

Yeah I have pcos too so it’s definitely not helped ! I also feel like I can just eat and eat.

And yes! Diets that worked in the past not working or I can’t stick to them. Glad to know other people have experienced this and it is a side effect! X

Don’t come off it without medical supervision. I was on it and it took months to come off it slowly.

I was on it for 9yrs, it was a godsend and got me through some tough times. I lost 40kg when I came off it, I had to diet, but it came off in 12mths. I was also taking Propranolol, which is an absolute wonder drug that changed my life, not sure whether the weight gain was Citalopram, Propranolol or depression.
