HELP! My bins are making me crazy!

I need some advice. My bins are taking over the kitchen! I feel very unorganised with my recycling as it needs to be separated into sections but I don't have the space - do any of you have a suggestion or hack that helps you stay on top of your rubbish and recycling before bin day?
Any answers appreciated :)

One big bag or bin then split it the night before when the bins go out? You don’t need to keep them separate inside of you don’t have the space.

That's what I was going to suggest as well, just fling it all in one bin and then sort it out when it's time to put into the outside bins

As long as you wash everything it would be ok?

I have a big carrier bag on back of outside door for recycling which gets emptied outside into green bin each day. Rest goes in small bin under sink. Tiny kitchen.

I have 2 smaller bins in the kitchen- 1 for mixed recycling and one for general waste. I have a cardboard box to put cardboard into before it all goes to the outside bins

We use two of these stacked on top of each other. One for cardboard and one for cans, glass and plastic. The regular bin sits beside them and the food bin on the side

I have a normal bin in a corner, small recycling bin in a base unit

When I have the kitchen redone am going to have them all in a drwer or cupboard

Chunkymenrock · 18/02/2021 17:56

1 small bucket under the sink lined with a bag for rubbish. All recycling taken straight out to their respective outside boxes.

heart80s · 18/02/2021 18:02

I have a normal bin and then just put recycling in the bin outside straight away.

Phalarope · 18/02/2021 18:11

Bin is in a drawer under sink - 3 sections (waste, paper, tins/bottles). Food waste caddy on work surface.
The sections are really small but it works for us.

I have a normal kitchen bin and take recycling straight to the outside bin.

AnathemaPulsifer · 18/02/2021 18:18

Normal kitchen bin for non-recyclable, a magazine file for cardboard waste that empties into a box in the garage, and a huge carrier bag under the sink for glass and plastic recycling.

We also have these. Brilliant things

Hey cool cats and kittens,
I have the exact same problem!! I have a small kitchen! any ideas to make use of little space for organising my recycling???

LocalHobo · 18/02/2021 20:33

I feel your pain.
I don't have the room for loads of separate bins/containers and if I use a multi use single container one section always fills up way before the other. Living on the 3rd floor means running out to the bin with each bit of food waste is not do-able.
I can squash down recycling but need some sort of seal or extraction contraption to stop the smell of my left over cauliflower rice etc. permeating the whole apartment.

Crunched · 18/02/2021 20:41

I use the large drawer, designed for saucepans I think, with 3 plastic boxes for each category of rubbish. They lift out and are not too big to wash in the sink.

imjackieweaver · 19/02/2021 17:26

We just leave recycling on the side until it gets a bit much then put it into the outside bin
