Waitrose steaks!

Went to Waitrose for the first time in months this week, needed sirloin steak for a recipe that needed 2 so bought one of their usual ones (£4.50!! But 3 for £10 so I usually get this deal and put some in the freezer).

Knew I had one in the freezer already so got that one out to defrost at home, it was dated 1 Dec.

The fresh one was way, way thinner than the one from the freezer, I searched for the weights on the packaging and the new one was 150g compared to the 200g one from the freezer! So in a couple of months they have reduced the size of this sirloin steak by 25% but are charging the same!

They are both from the same range, Aberdeen Angus. I've just checked and the Essential ones are still 200g. Just a bit Shock at the difference.

Looking forward to when I can get to a Sainsburys again...

If you’re in the shop and compared the sizes, most likely not all of them are the same size / weight. It’ll be the same in all the other shops.

Have you tried aldi for steak. In the black packaging.

Are you sure they are both sirloin?
The rump and sirloin steaks are packaged very similarly, but you will get more for your money for rump.
(We haven't noticed any change in size.)

No they're standard size/ price ones, not the "by weight" ones. Identical packaging! Just one was bought end of last year and 50g heavier!
