Do you think holiday destinations will be overrun with tourists next year?

Myself and DP had a 'once in a lifetime' holiday cancelled last year that we had spent years saving for (Japan) - we have always wanted to go to this destination and haven't yet re booked.

I am not particularly enthusiastic about re-booking for next year as I am worried that it will be so so busy it will really ruin the experience, particularly when it is not a cheap holiday!

At the same time, we were planning to go before we started TTC and we didn't want to delay it more than a year due to my age.

Just wondered what your thoughts were? Would you still book a holiday for next year/ or have you? - is it a popular destination and are you worried it will be overrun by tourists?

We own a holiday villa. Last year we 'suffered' losses, this year, we will be busier than ever. It's the busiest we've ever been for Jan and Feb, and we are booked up for the next few months. And the country isn't even open to visitors, all the bookings are home citizens travelling to this destination for a break. We know that as soon as the borders open, there will be a rush of people (as evidenced by some social media groups I belong to). We plan to go next year, but we have already written off the major attractions because the crowding would be immense, especially for young children.

I also really would like to go to Japan, and we had planned it for this year too (avoiding last year's olympic year). But we'll probably leave it for another 2/3 years tbh.
