I've given myself constipation-when will it wear off?

I took anti-diarrhoea tablets on Saturday night (because I had a loose movement).
I think it was a one off but I took the full dose.
I've researched them and apparently the way they work is preventing one's bowels from contracting.

I'm in so much pain, I can tell I'm bunged up but straining yesterday made me bleed! Ugh.

In case it’s helpful to anyone...I had a codeine induced impaction earlier this week. My lovely neighbour got the glycerin suppositories for me. Took me 4 tries to keep one in long enough (they sting and give you a real urge to push prematurely) but it worked. Not a full evacuation so I used them again later that day, then the next day coupled with Dulcoease. Today I added fibogel. I suffer with haemorrhoids so has especially painful. Lots of water also.

And don’t fart for a day or two once things get moving.

Beautiful3 · 18/02/2021 19:30

Drink 2 mugs of filter coffee and lots of water, you'll soon have a movement.

2 x kiwi fruit works for me better than prune juice

Should have savedyoyrself all this trouble and just had a McDonald's, that would probably have moved it.

Can I eat and drink normally now?

@CottonHeadedNinyMuggins

So glad you've gotten the plug out, Rainbow. Hopefully it'll continue on the same vein now!
fossilised oh god really!? It seemed to be a bit more than just the 'plug'?

@Rainbowaftertherain yes but keep your water intake up and a decent supply of fibre. It can take a while for your bowels to get back to normal.

Rainbowaftertherain · 18/02/2021 20:47

I've never heard of a 'poo plug' before until this thread! It was't even that painful-I am sure that coconut oil acted as some sort of eau naturale suppository?

OP posts:
Biscuitsdisappear · 19/02/2021 16:48

I don't know about the coconut oil. I wouldn't have thought that the flavour would make any difference to be honest. I just used lots of soap which worked, I didn't think that taste would be a consideration.

Rainbowaftertherain · 19/02/2021 22:32

Did you eat the soap afterwards ConfusedGrin

Coffee, yoga and some Medjool dates.

Diet red bull makes me shit water even if I have taken Imodium or something. It's like battery acid and just runs straight through me

Biscuitsdisappear · 20/02/2021 17:58

Glad that it all came to a satisfactory conclusion. Next time you will be an old hand at this.
