What was the show where they aged kids 20 years

to show parents how their unhealthy lifestyles would impact their kids adulthood.

It was quite an eye opener. I think they were long ago enough that they could to a revisited series and we could all see if the worst version of the future was avoided.

Was it part of a Jamie Oliver programme about unhealthy eating? It is ringing a very vague bell.

emsyj37 · 17/02/2021 21:57

Was it Secret Eaters???

PrincessTuna · 17/02/2021 21:58

I don't think so. I remember the parents standing in front of a big screen and seeing a digital ageing process on their kids. Then sobbing when they looked sad and unhealthy.

Then they made diet changes. Repeated the big screen bit. But this time the aged kids were all glowy and smiling.

Haha TOO SLOW.

PrincessTuna · 17/02/2021 22:02

There was such a strange phase of nutrition shows in that era. People pooing in tupperware for Gillian McKeith. Digital artists turning kids into grey sad adults.

Bonkers.

I remember that!

The predicted versions of the children always looked exactly like the parents, and the parents were always horrified and started crying.

"Children grow up to look like parents shocker."

PrincessTuna · 17/02/2021 22:11

Haha I know. The elephant in the room "shit they look like us!"

It was bbc and not on iplayer so I might have to try YouTube.

My cousin's son with his family appeared on it. Bizarrely they were thrilled to be on it, and proudly put extracts and photos on their Facebook pages.

TheOrchidKiller · 17/02/2021 22:15

We used to watch all those TV shows. The Gillian McKeith one was bizarre (You Are What You Eat).

In 2000 DH & I were given tickets for The Milennium Dome (don't laugh, it wasn't a bad day out). They had a machine that took your picture & then showed you how you'd look when older (basically, saggy & grey). I think you can get apps to do that now, but back then it was pretty cutting-edge!

Busygoingblah · 17/02/2021 22:20

I’d love to see what some of the featured kids look like now and if any of them were at all accurate.

PrincessTuna · 17/02/2021 22:23

It was a really popular show wasnt it @TheOrchidKiller? We had the book although god knows how she filled a book - eat raw veg please.

I still look at buffets and clock the dominant beige tone.

I would like to go to fancy dress as Gillian. I could carry a rum truffle in a tupperware box. Not sure how many people would get the reference though.

I'm jealous of your millenium dome visit. I picture it being like the crystal maze.

Well @Busygoingblah, maybe @Clawdy can tell us if her cousin's kids are resembling either big screen...

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 17/02/2021 22:29

I remember that programme! It would be interesting to see what the kids actually turned out like...

Clawdy · 17/02/2021 22:29

The girls were predicted to be overweight and looking much older than their years. They are certainly not overweight, and look their age, but sadly both have had a lot of Botox and lip filler. Sad
