Help !
I've given up on google trying to find the answer to this. Only just started driving in London and just can't work out what the speed limit is on Park Lane southbound (Dorchester Side.)
I know the other side (northbound) is now down to 20mph because there are signs ever 2 seconds - but nothing the other way.

Only things I can find on google just say that 'Park Lane' has been reduced to 20 but southbound everyone seems to be driving faster.

I used to post quite interesting posts on Mumsnet - honest HmmConfused

I learned in my driving lessons that if a road has no speed signs but has street lights then its 30mph. Not sure how true it is though lol

If it's in Westminster (?) it's 20 , all of Westminster and a bunch of other boroughs at 20 all over

nobucketlist · 17/02/2021 19:48

That's what I learnt too - but there seem to be loads of announcements about 20mph new limits in central London so I keep second guessing.
I keep thinking there must be a website where you can just put in a road name / number and get the speed limit ... but there isn't.
Maybe I'll start one - it could be my latest lockdown hobby !

I read that about Westminster but I've done the journey 3 times this week and every other driver seems to be doing 30mph on that side of Park Lane while I'm pootling along at 20mph and getting on their nerves

Rubbish map but gives you and idea, park lane looks to be 20 and then after Wellington archers 30

Other drivers may not be being as diligent as you - I live in a 20 Zone & a[n un*]surprising amount of people took a VERY long time to adjust to that.

  • depending on your beliefs about human nature I suppose...
olderthanyouthink · 17/02/2021 20:09

Yeah I live in a 20 borough on a quiet road that doesn't really go anywhere and people fly down at 30+ mph. They must be using it to over take slower cars on the main road

peak2021 · 17/02/2021 20:20

If it is a road managed by TfL it will be 20mph.

nobucketlist · 17/02/2021 20:47

Thanks everyone - I'm going to keep pootling along ..

If you can use Waze it seems to know the speed limit of each road.

nobucketlist · 17/02/2021 21:43

I'll try that Dougt - thanks

Limit was recently changed to 20mph OP, QUITE WHY is anybody's guess! #theKhangaeneverends

nobucketlist · 17/02/2021 21:54

Thanks double - a lot of the drivers mustn't have seen the updates (and Southbound it doesn't 'feel' like a 20mph road if that makes sense.)

I get what you mean it doesn't need to be I will never understand the thinking other than the obvious profiteering explanations. It's so unforgivable the way that Khan has been permitted to make Londoners lives sheer hell
