What can I treat myself to after covid vaccine tomorrow?

I'll be close to a Waitrose and WH Smith. I'm thinking crappy gossipy magazine and a Toblerone for when kids are in bed.
I've been to the shops about 5 times in the best part of a year so this is A PROPER DAY OUT.

I came out of the vaccination centre with a nearly overwhelming desire to go to the pubSmile
I made do with cake.

DisposableGoon · 17/02/2021 18:52

Paracetamol!

Spied · 17/02/2021 18:53

Great news you're getting the jab!
I'd personally buy the trashy Fate and Fortune mag or Chats Fate mag ( but I love wooGrin).
I'd also treat myself to a Lindt White Chocolate egg.

Great ideas already, thanksGrin. I can see myself bloody running amok now. Wild in the aisles

Coffee and cake take out, very easy food for a couple of days and paracetamol.

YesThisIsMe · 17/02/2021 19:05

Cut price chocolate eclair (or whatever’s on offer in Waitrose cake department) and two paracetamol.

I know what you mean though. DD had to go into town the other day for an unavoidable but non-serious medical appointment and she was GIDDY with excitement.

ineedaholidayandwine · 17/02/2021 19:06

Cake :-D a fancy one

Mysillystory · 17/02/2021 19:20

I'm having mine Friday, hadn't even thought of getting a treat, just the paracetamol type stuff. Mmm cake and a magazine sounds good

Plonque · 17/02/2021 19:35

Would be a big fat cream cake or sharing sized chilled dessert for me. Something good like a chocolate sundae, profiteroles or squishy cream cake. Lush!

hennaoj · 17/02/2021 19:39

Waitrose has the best cheese ever, Cornish Yarg. Get a coffee while you are there too. Oh and a Charlie Binghams, because you won't be up to cooking later. Takeaway for lunch on the way home too?

MrsFezziwig · 17/02/2021 19:39

I chose my vaccination centre specifically so I could go to Waitrose, we don’t have one in my town. Got fish curry and coconut and lime icecream!

AdaColeman · 17/02/2021 19:44

A pretty bunch of spring flowers, a cream cake and a pack of their crumpets!

DragonPoop · 17/02/2021 19:46

I would pick up:
A trashy magazine (or a few)
Some bubble bath,
Deep conditioning treatment for my hair,
Maybe a face mask,
Some chocolate or a dessert,
Maybe a nice ready type meal for my dinner.

I had to drive to a pharmacy in a city centre, 12miles from home. I haven't been so far for three months or been in a shop since Xmas. I bought a book from WHSmith opposite, very quiet in there. Also I walked past an empty Costa on the way there and decided I'd treat myself to a latte and cake if there were no other customers afterwards. I felt really liberated after my vaccine, really enjoyed my treats and also the drive. Hope you enjoy!

KeepWashingThoseHands · 17/02/2021 19:49

Going to WHSmith as a PROPER DAY OUT is about as good as it’s gets for their business model right now. I remember being a kid and it being a PROPER treat going in there to get new stationery etc. Now it looks like my disgusting local post office with aisles rammed with crap.

My jab is next Friday so I’m doing exactly the same as you OP Smile

HildegardNightingale · 17/02/2021 19:51

Pick up a nice bunch of daffs, they always cheer you up. Maybe also a Lindt choc bunny. You can nibble his ears off in the evening.

StrangerHereMyself · 17/02/2021 19:53

Oh I forgot flowers. Definitely a bunch of daffs.

Weepingwillow22 · 17/02/2021 20:06

Don't take paracetamol if you don't need it. There is some evidence to suggest it affects the strenght of your immune reaction.

I think cake or chocolate is the best tonic.

CherryCherries · 17/02/2021 20:10

Waitrose sell those yummy fondant covered cupcakes! It's about a fiver for 6 but they are sooo worth it! Especially as a cheer up treat.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 17/02/2021 20:22

I got a McDonald's with a big coke to calm down. I felt rather 'high' after getting it 😂
