Hi all, not sure if Chat is the best place for this but am wondering if anyone who knows about emdr therapy can advise me- I’ve been doing some reading about it but not sure if I would be a good candidate- there are quite a few historic Mumsnet posts where people have been really helped with ptsd and traumatic memories relating to a specific incident or incidents- my issue is not ptsd or a specific event, it’s more general anxiety and depression which I think has it’s roots in childhood (father who was physically, sexually and emotionally abusive to my mother, me being blamed for their unhappy marriage, bullying by my older sister and at school etc)- can emdr help with things like this? I’ve done years and years of more conventional therapy but it doesn’t seem to change anything so looking for an alternative option
