The disappearance of Claudia Lawrence sill makes me feel very sad. Its so odd. I really feel for her family.

Her dad campaigned tirelessly and looked so broken in interviews.

I was sad to read that he had died. Sad

That is terribly sad, I wish this had received more coverage.

It is sad. She disappeared twelve years ago, twelve! I can't believe it's that long. I cannot imagine how he/the family have got through all those years.

so sad to hear this

BananaPop2020 · 15/02/2021 01:10

I sometimes think these cases are the cruellest of them all.

BrowncoatWaffles · 15/02/2021 01:16

This is so very horrible. I can’t believe this hasn’t been more widely reported.

MercyBooth · 15/02/2021 01:21

It would have been had he died of Covid

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/02/2021 01:29

How sad

RickiTarr · 15/02/2021 01:34

Awful.

A file was sent to the CPS on several suspects a few years back, I think, but it was decided that there wasn’t enough of a case to charge them.

Hopefully the full details of that theory were shared with Mr Lawrence so that at least he had clarity in his own mind about Claudia’s likely fate. I realise that is only a small compensation but it has to be better than dying with no idea where she is or whether she survived.

Poor man. I hope he can rest in peace. Flowers

I also had no knowledge he had died. So awful he was never able to know what really happened to his daughter. The same for the mother of Suzi Lamplugh. She died a few years ago and never had any kind of peace or able to bury her daughter.
How many other grieving parents have passed away without ever knowing what happened to their loved ones. Horrible and tragic.

GrimDamnFanjo · 15/02/2021 01:49

I am very sad to read this. Claudias father pushed so hard for justice.
Those that know what happened need to come forward. Surely eventually loyalties will change and the police will get enough evidence to bring those responsible to justice.

Aquamarine1029 · 15/02/2021 02:04

Shit. This makes me so incredibly sad. I was so hoping he could have found some answers before he died.

FreshFancyFrogglette · 15/02/2021 02:46

One of those haunting cases. Thinking about it is so sad. I am sad he died without proper closure. Rip Flowers.

@RickiTarr I didn't realise that about the CPS. It is simply so tragic

We live very close to her house and wonder what happened every time we drive past.

So sad to hear this. He was a tireless campaigner for justice.

He did achieve something tangible in Claudia’s memory, though.

I forget the official name of the legislation, but it was informally known as “Claudia’s Law” and allows the families of missing people to deal with banks, mortgage companies, utilities etc in the absence of the missing person, which is a huge improvement on the utter mess that existed beforehand. Can you imagine being out of your mind with worry over your missing sibling or child and having to deal with endless “computer says no” red tape on top?

He made things better for the unlucky people in future who unfortunately will also have to go through the same thing he did. Selfless, lovely man and a very good dad. Star
