What can we celebrate between now and the end of March?

Just that really. We've celebrated pretty much everything going this past year just to make the days more interesting. What's between now and Easter? We had Chinese New Year on Friday, Valentines Day today, Shrove Tuesday, Mother's Day, what else is there we can put in our diaries? Anything at all, no matter how obscure.

Nishky · 14/02/2021 20:02

International Women’s day

Fivemoreminutes1 · 14/02/2021 20:06

First day of spring.

Kajdlkdu · 14/02/2021 20:06

Persian New Year is 20 March.

Rae36 · 14/02/2021 20:08

The first day of spring is 20th March, that's exactly a year since schools closed. I have mixed feelings about that one but I'll stick my happy face on and celebrate it anyway.

Rae36 · 14/02/2021 20:10

Wikipedia tells me Persian New Year is traditionally celebrated by letting off firecrackers and jumping over bonfires. That sounds excellent.

March 14th is steak and blowjob day. You may not want to include the kids for the celebrations though!

PracticingPerson · 14/02/2021 20:13

We do a big thing for the start of spring, decorate everything with flowers (we've made lots over years).

Kids always invented festivals so we used to have some random celebrations Smile

Holi is a good one to be inspired by?

AuntieStella · 14/02/2021 20:15

How about a nice assassination on 15th, the Ides of March?

Rae36 · 14/02/2021 20:16

Man, who invented that one?

Happy Season 6 of Line of Duty Day? 🤞

Rae36 · 14/02/2021 20:22

Still waiting for Happy Stranger Things Season 4 day, think we could be waiting a while.
But good idea, any other films or anything being released that would appeal to teen boys?
I'm so dreading these next few weeks of being at home, I want to find lots of random things to break up the monotony of our days.

Thus is a US site, but you could import some of the weirder ones which have yet to seep into the Britush consciousness?

www.thespruce.com/special-days-and-observances-in-march-1448890

Try Hug a GI Day? Dr Seuss's Birthday? National Day of Unplugging? National Artichoke Day? National Teenager Day? I Am In Control Day?

More promising: National Cocktail Day and International Waffle Day

Best of all - 26th: Make Up Your Own Holiday Day!

Both your neighbours and the fire service will love you.

www.franciscanmedia.org/saint-of-the-day/calendar

A saint whose day you can celebrate every day almost. not just St David and St Patrick.

Then there are name days (something I found out from a Czech person I knew a few years ago)- French list below

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_name_days_in_France

Every Saturday you can commemorate the anniversary of an offside goal or dubious penalty award to Manchester United.

A Man is my guess Grin
Kajdlkdu · 14/02/2021 20:25

In all seriousness I was thinking more of the spring clean to welcome in the new year, flowers and feasting part of the celebrations.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/02/2021 20:26

Pie day is one of my favourites... March 14th (3.14)
(Mathematical Pi and food pie!)

I'm going to do this one this year (have maths-obsessed children and everyone loves pie, surely)

In the rest of this month, there is
16th - Do A Grouch A Favour Day
18th - Drink Wine Day
25th - has the strange juxtaposition of National Chocolate Covered Nut Day, Let's All Eat Right Day, National Clam Chowder Day, National Pancake Day, World Spay Day

27th Digital Learning Day (yeah, right)
28th National Chocolate Soufflé Day (solves what to have for pudding?)

Also 22nd Feb is Thinking Day, a day on which Brownies and Guides were allowed to wear those uniforms instead of school uniform
