Does anyone just want to go to bed early and hibernate when it’s this cold?

I’m cold all the time at the moment. Even with the heating on I feel sort of chilly in a “omfg it’s definitely winter” type way
Every night at about 8pm once I’ve had dinner I just want to go and get in to bed and get all cosy and read. Absolutely no motivation to do anything else.
In summer I can be up for ages and have loads of energy but the winter really saps it. Anyone else?

I'm impressed you make it until after dinner, I was tempted to read in bed mid afternoon
Chunkymenrock · 14/02/2021 20:07
Yes, I go at 9 most nights. Would definitely go earlier if I could.

I'd love to but my child's body clock is buggered in lockdown and she's usually still awake at 11pm. I often find myself going to bed when she does then trying desperately to stay awake until she finally nods off.

I think hope is on the horizon. I have noticed the mornings being a tiny bit lighter and the evening it's staying lighter at least half an hour later. According to the (admittedly terribly inaccurate but you never know) BBC weather it's going to be 15 degrees here (Worcestershire) next weekend. Hang on in there.

Actually a few weeks ago when it was a bit warmer and all the spring flowers were out I definitely felt a bit less sleepy / hibernatey so maybe I do just need to see it out!
DH is currently working out. What is wrong with him.

Totally the same - doing well if I make it to 9pm. Bed is the only warm place
AshMeri · 14/02/2021 20:31
Yes I'm exactly the same. I felt as though I was getting better a few weeks ago and then the temperatures dipped. Being super cold just makes me want to go to bed early and read. As soon as dinner is finished I change into my pyjamas and dressing gown. The glamour!

We have been going to bed ridiculously early, I think a combo of winter blues and lockdown blues mean no motivation in the evenings after work
HexWitch · 14/02/2021 20:38
Same here. I usually just stick Netflix on, DD10 climbs in with me to snuggle up and we fall asleep to something random. Half 8, 9ish. It's so cosy in there!
ShirleyPhallus · 14/02/2021 20:38
@HexWitch
This sounds gorgeous!!
HexWitch · 14/02/2021 20:41
@ShirleyPhallus it's lovely, and we're both sleeping better for it.
Gogglebox20 · 14/02/2021 20:45
I honestly believe humans are supposed to hibernate in winter!!!! 😊
FreeFallingFree · 14/02/2021 20:47
Sounds about right. I try to force myself not to go to bed until 9:30 with an aim of not sleeping until 10 because otherwise I'm awake by 5, and that's a lot of long dark hours to get through before sunrise.
I think part of the problem is that I'm bored. I've watched all the tv I want to watch this last year, and reading to pass the time feels like a chore not a pleasure.
Queenfreak · 14/02/2021 20:50
I stay with my 3 year old until she falls asleep.
Then it's so warm and cosy in bed I don't want to get up.
If DH is home obviously I get up, but if not I happily snooze and read until 9ish, then go to sleep for the night.
Its so lovely
