What to buy in Lidl?!

.... just that. Tunbridge Wells finally has a Lidl. I have just queued up and wandered round like an idiot, trying to remember the things everyone on here recommends. I've ended up with 200 tea bags - Earl Grey and much cheaper than Sainsbury's - plus a load of cheese, chocolate and vegetables. Any tips for "better than Sainsbury's and Tesco's"? Is the cat food any good?

We do our weekly shop there and it’s always good quality. Things I like from there more than other supermarkets include:

Greek yoghurt
Noodles
Sourdough boule
Low sugar granola
Bagels
Lentil curls
Poppadoms

As others have said the nuts and fruit teas are great value. Never had a problem with their fruit or veg either!

Curlyshabtree · 15/02/2021 15:27

I do my weekly shop in Lidl, here’s what I rate:
Posh granola (especially the berry one)
All yoghurts
Cheese
Washing powder
All biscuits
They do a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding
Face serum (only about £3

I love Lidl. Their 'Classic' face cream is unbeatable and the dupe perfumes which they only have periodically are brilliant. The 'En Rose' is identical to La Vie est Belle but they're all very good.
As PP have said the big tub of Greek yoghurt is so good and yes yes to Italian week.

Ladyladylady · 15/02/2021 15:39

I love their own label peanut m and m's but I can't be trusted with them, I have zero will power
The fresh orange juice with bits
Chiller roasted veg pizza
Multigrain bites crisps sour cream and chives
Pinot Grigio rose fizz
My son used to work for them and he said the own label hula hoops and digestive biscuits are the same as the big label ones

Suddenly perfume.

cravingthelook · 15/02/2021 16:24

@lunar1 I eat my own body weight in avocado from there 😁

Wine
Feta
Ground coffee
Olive oil
Apple juice
Deluxe pies
Deluxe steaks
Ginger
Root veg

Are all regularly on my list

This thread is basically food porn!!

And I can't get to Lidl for at least 2 more days!

WhiteWriting · 15/02/2021 16:31

@RubyandPearl - WTF is a haunted bin?????????????????

RubyandPearl · 15/02/2021 21:42

@WhiteWriting I have no idea but I'm 98% sure there will be one in the middle aisle at some point

WhiteWriting · 16/02/2021 11:02

LOL - sounds like the makings of a Tales of the Unexpected reboot!

Teddy1970 · 16/02/2021 11:15

Yes, how can a bin be haunted?

Kapalika · 16/02/2021 11:17

Chocolate or vanilla brioche

RubyandPearl · 16/02/2021 12:08

Coming to a Lidl near you...

WTF is that!??

@BarbaraofSeville

WTF is that!??
A haunted bin...
Workyticket · 16/02/2021 15:18

Their 50 litre bin bags are the dogs bollocks.

Dishwasher tablets too

Lobsterquadrille2 · 16/02/2021 16:00

I don't have a dishwasher but bin bags are top of my list for this weekend. I wondered about the haunted bin too .... also the flashing wellies, as a great niece will be two next week. All the German stuff is useful to know too - my father was German and my mother needs cheering up.

For the Alpenfest they usually have bags with potato cakes filled with spinach&mozzarella or herbs and cream cheese (in the freezer) which my daughter loves and I always buy a few bags to have something I can put in the oven for her when I cook a dinner I know she doesn't like.
Also during Alpenfest they often have Bergkäse which is quite distinct (more propionic acid, makes it nutty) to most hard cheeses in the UK.

JorisBonson · 16/02/2021 17:44

The Lidl Cotes de Provence rose is the best thing ever.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 16/02/2021 18:00

The frozen 3 fish roast is amazing.
Wine.
Big tubs of peach and passion fruit yoghurt.
Jars of sliced sandwich gherkins.
Random tat from the middle aisle - an indoor mini golf putting mat for £10 has been a lockdown winner.

Dont know how we survived pre-Lidl.

NeedToGetOuttaHere · 16/02/2021 18:10

Oh yes we like the three fish roast too.
