Can you suddenly ‘become’ attractive later on in life - has this happened for anyone?!

I’m 38 my obese, skin terrible, decent hair and boobs but definitely not a head turner!
I was somewhat attractive around 27-30 then I lost a ton of weight after first child and my bmi was around 22, made an effort with make up and clothes And although not ‘beautiful’ I was quite attractive in my way. My husbands friends often said how did you end up with her she’s too nice for you.
Anyway fast forward a few tough years - ptsd, comfort eating, depression. I look like crap.
I would love to be beautiful to be attractive but I don’t know if it will ever happen for me is it too late for an ugly duckling transformation?
Has anyone become attractive later on?

I think that if you take care of yourself, to a level that you feel happy with and makes you feel confident, you will be beautiful. I think so much of beauty is confidence and being a nice person who is warm and kind. I am definitely not high maintenance, get my hair cut once a year, my nails are often bitten to a nervous stump and I've never had a massage or a facial. But, I like clothes and experimenting with what suits me, and I enjoy doing my make-up each day-even if I'm just at home, I feel better if I've done that.

I'm not classically beautiful, but I think I'm fairly confident and I think it makes all the difference.

Yes, I think you can. I feel more confidence in my appearance (most of the time) then in the past.

A couple of things kick-started the process. Firstly getting a style analysis and colour analysis, which made me buy clothes that suited me. The other was going on a diet. Still overweight, but eating healthily helps.

I’m no super model, but I feel happier with how I look now, compared to the past.

100%.

Some people are natural beauties, but for the majority it's effort/money that makes the difference.

Even celebrities who are genetically gifted, it's the money that they've thrown at their appearance that's really made them spectacularly attractive.

The other thing to remember is that not even the celebrities or models look like they appear in an age of airbrush and filters.

I feel more attractive now I am older as I have the time and money to spend on my appearance.

Yep, and although nice skin, hair, clothes and so on is part of it, self esteem, confidence is almost all of it. Those people who have that quiet self belief are very attractive the rest is just gloss. Buy the clothes that suit you now, get good underwear for your current body, look after your skin and hair, see your doctor about your depression, get out for a walk everyday even if only a stroll around the block initially but smile and say hello to those you encounter, they will enjoy it and so will you.

Try not to fixate on your perceived bad bits. This is a powerful tip too. Compliment other people, genuinely- admire another persons coat, hair, nails, perfume. This will make them happy which will make you feel good, chances are they’ll admire something about you in turn and it becomes a habit- make other people feel good and that brings good things to you even if it’s just that the other person says how nice you are to have said that - it creates a kind of good feeling which leads to your own confidence.
