Anyone else?

I love Japanese names ending in -ko like Keiko. Apparently they're completely old fashioned and out of favour now. But they sound so pretty to me.

Thierry for a boy (French)

Saoirse (“Sur-sha.”) for a girl (Irish)

Pietro is my all time favourite. Heartbroken I can't justify using it!
I love Blodwyn but not an ounce of Welsh in me.

I love them too, but yes, it's the equivalent apparently of calling a British kid Mildred or Doris. Similarly when I see Italian names crop up on these lists (I'm in Italy) most would be someone over the age of about 75 and definitely not due a comeback. Dd's middle name is one of those and she hates it.

I also really like Colette.

LondonStone · 15/02/2021 12:53

DH is Portuguese and we’ve agreed on Inês for a girl. It’s pronounced In-esh (not Inez) in Portuguese as their ‘s’ sounds are pronounced ‘shh’.

happysunr1se · 15/02/2021 13:01

I have a friend called Hazuki, I love her name and I really like Megumi and Hikaru/Hikari.

cretelover · 15/02/2021 13:11

I adore Javier/Xavier, Xavi for short

Nilufar, Tundebayo, Saffiyah, Zalmay, Arkady, Ianthe, all utterly gorgeous.
